Our forests are facing a new threat.
A proposal in Congress would open up thousands of acres of national forests to devastating amounts of logging.
From the pale aspens of Santa Fe National Forest to the emerald spruce trees of Bridger-Teton, our national forests are places where we hike and play, where wildlife seek refuge and birds chatter in the trees. We can’t sacrifice these special places to logging.
Tell your U.S. House representative: Don’t allow unchecked logging in our national forests.
If you’re like me, there’s one national forest in particular that holds a special place in your heart.
Maybe it’s where you used to camp with your dad as a kid. Maybe it’s where you plan summer picnics with your family, or set out for afternoon hikes with your friends. Maybe it’s where you go to be alone.
The next time you visit that special forest, you shouldn’t hear chainsaws buzzing or see trees cut down to stumps.
This new proposal would slip elements of the deceptively named “Fix Our Forests Act” into the latest Farm Bill, which would loosen requirements for environmental review in our national forests and open up thousands of more acres to clearcutting.
It’s simple: Our national forests don’t need “fixing.” Especially when “fixing” means cutting whole acres of trees down to stumps.
Letting elements of the “Fix Our Forests” Act sneak into this latest bill from Congress wouldn’t actually “fix” anything. It would fast-track logging operations and open the door to more destruction in some of our most beloved places.
When our natural world is under threat, we call on people like you, , to stand up to defend our trees and the wildlife who call them home.
Send your message: Keep destructive logging out of our national forests.
Thank you for defending our forests,
