For 24 years, the Roadless Area Conservation Rule has defended the wild heart of the American landscape. Allowed to grow undisturbed by logging and mining, roadless forests are unique ecosystems relied upon by wildlife and beloved by recreationists. By repealing the Roadless Rule, the USDA would be dooming millions of acres of natural splendor that belongs to all Americans to ecological devastation. Vast swaths of undeveloped landscape critical for the survival of species like wolverines, grizzly bears and lynx could be fragmented. Streams now filled with salmon and trout could become clogged with sediment. Naturally fire-resistant mature and old-growth trees that today filter drinking water for millions could be logged, leaving paths of death and destruction where outdoor recreationists once sought wilderness and nature. Please maintain the integrity of our natural landscapes and keep the Roadless Rule.
