Don't Arm Teachers!

Tennessee lawmakers just passed a bill to allow teachers and school staff to carry handguns in their classrooms and on campus. Teachers will not be required to tell parents or their colleagues they are armed.

Rather than passing gun safety laws, Republicans pushed through a bill that will bring guns to school.

This law is dangerous and has the potential to be life threatening. Sign the petition today to oppose arming teachers.

“This is nothing but a bad disaster and tragedy waiting to happen if we do not ensure personal responsibility,” House Democratic Caucus Chair John Ray Clemmons said. “Our children’s lives are at stake.”

A little over a year ago, a shooting at the Covenant School rattled the Nashville community and state. A Covenant mom delivered a letter to the House on Monday with more than 5,300 signatures asking lawmakers to defeat the bill.

Arming teachers is not the way to go. The only way to keep our children safe is by keeping guns out of schools.

Sign the petition today if you agree that teachers should not be armed.
