Don't Let Trump Invade Chicago

Donald Trump is threatening to send the National Guard into Chicago—overriding local leaders and trampling democratic norms. We have to stop this authoritarian stunt.

Trump claims he's "restoring order," but Chicago's mayor and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker have firmly rejected federal troops. Pritzker said it best: "Donald Trump is attempting to manufacture a crisis, politicize Americans who serve in uniform, and continue abusing his power to distract from the pain he is causing working families."

Trump is targeting a city with a proud history of resisting his agenda, using fear and force to send a message: obey, or be occupied. We’ve seen this playbook before—and it leads to repression, not security.

Tell Congress: “Don’t let Trump invade Chicago. Refuse to fund any further politically motivated deployments of National Guard troops to Chicago and other cities.”

The last time Trump unleashed federal forces in U.S. cities, it sparked violence and civil rights violations. Chicago could be next unless we act now. If Trump gets away with this, no city that defies him is safe.

Congress must step in immediately. Lawmakers can investigate, block unauthorized deployments, and pass urgent safeguards to limit Trump's abuse of power. Every moment of delay raises the risk of violence and deepens the constitutional crisis.
