Free and Fair Elections are the Bare Minimum.

Just a few weeks ago, the Supreme Court gutted the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965, which guaranteed fair congressional districts for everyone…after ruling just a few years ago that partisan gerrymandering was okay.

Now, republican-led states are redrawing their maps to dilute the power of black and brown voters, redrawing their lines to all but silence communities of color - states like Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and  Tennessee - and yet not allowing voters in blue states to decide to redraw their maps to level the playing field - like in Virginia.

The midterms are just a few months away, and we know Republicans are trying to rig the maps in their pathetic attempt to consolidate power - not for us, but for themselves. Their policies are deeply unpopular; they lied about their promise to lower costs and instead are starting needless wars that are driving up the cost of our basic needs like gas and groceries.

Our livelihoods and our children’s futures are on the line. It’s time to end partisan gerrymandering. It’s time to protect our right to vote. And frankly, it’s past time we had free and fair elections - that is the bare minimum.

If your vote didn’t matter, they wouldn’t try to suppress it.
