Gun Makers Are Spying on Their Customers—Stop the Betrayal

The gun industry has betrayed the very people who keep it alive.

Gun manufacturers and their lobbying arm, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), secretly handed over customer data to political firms tied to Cambridge Analytica—the same operation infamous for hijacking Facebook data to manipulate voters. Millions of gun owners had their personal information weaponized for propaganda, without consent.

It’s a direct attack on the majority of gun owners, who support commonsense safety measures like background checks and safe storage. But instead of respecting those views, the gun industry has been exploiting customer data to build psychological profiles, manipulate voters, and lobby against reforms most gun owners actually want. They are selling out their own customers to cling to political power.

Tell the National Shooting Sports Foundation: “Stop violating customer privacy. Respect the majority of gun owners who demand commonsense gun reform.”

The NSSF has already poured millions into blocking basic gun safety legislation. Now we know they’re going even further—backstabbing gun owners by using their private data to undermine their interests and silence their voices.

If the NSSF refuses to reform, Congress will have to act. Otherwise, this abuse will continue to erode trust, fuel disinformation, and undermine democracy itself. The next election cycle is already underway, and every day that passes is another day gun owners are exploited against their will.

Gun makers and the NSSF must immediately stop violating customer privacy, end all secret data sharing, and submit to independent oversight of their practices. Anything less is unacceptable.

Sign this petition today and tell gun makers: Stop spying on your own customers—end the betrayal and start respecting the people you claim to represent.

The petition to the National Shooting Sports Foundation reads: “Stop violating customer privacy. Respect the majority of gun owners who demand commonsense gun reform.”
