Communities hit by climate disasters are being abandoned, and it’s no accident. 

President Trump is deliberately dismantling FEMA, the agency Americans rely on when catastrophe strikes. We must stop this cruel and dangerous assault before more lives are lost.

Trump has eliminated FEMA’s largest disaster preparedness program, the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program, which helped communities build flood protections and wildfire defenses. He’s slashed staff and forced states to take on more disaster responsibilities without federal backup. Worst of all, his administration has denied FEMA aid to disaster-struck states like Washington, raising alarms that political retaliation—not public safety—is guiding disaster relief.

Experts have sounded the alarm: these cuts leave millions unprotected as climate disasters grow more severe. Instead of strengthening our national emergency response, Trump is gutting it—turning FEMA into a tool for partisan punishment and putting countless families at risk.

Congress must act now to stop this. Lawmakers have the power to restore FEMA’s budget, reinstate critical programs like BRIC, and investigate Trump’s politically motivated denial of aid.
