Indigenous Peoples' rights are under attack in Chile

The Mapuche People are fighting to recover their territory and restore their culture, language, spirituality, food sovereignty and self-determination, in the face of ongoing repression.

They never ceded their ancestral lands, yet today, Mapuche land defenders are being criminalized, and their territories stolen for logging and rare earth mining.

At stake is not only the survival of a people, but a global precedent: whether governments can override Indigenous rights in favor of corporate interests and land grabs.

Chile must uphold its international obligations and respect Indigenous rights to land and sovereignty.
