Sexual violence isn't just committed by individuals. It is built into our criminal justice system. State sexual violence is sexual harm carried out or enabled by the government. It takes two forms: • State-SANCTIONED Sexual Violence: Legal, government-authorized acts, like forced strip searches in jails and prisons • State-TOLERATED Sexual Violence: Illegal acts the government ignores and allows, like military sexual assaults covered up with no accountability This abuse is happening RIGHT NOW: → Inmates are forcefully strip and cavity searched without consent or reason → Corrections officers sexually assault prisoners and are never held accountable → Jail staff watch CCTV footage of inmates showering for their own sexual gratification The government cannot be allowed to commit, authorize, or ignore sexual violence. Join the Sexual Violence Prevention Association (SVPA) in standing against state sexual violence. Together, we can hold our government accountable and end these systems of harm. Add your name today →
