Prosecute Trump for his Illegal Stock Market Manipulation

The world just witnessed what has to be the most flagrant display of market manipulation in economic history. Minutes after stock trading opened on Wall Street, President Trump tweeted out “NOW IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!”

Hours laters, he abruptly put a pause on the unprecedented tariffs that he had levied against literally every country in the world except on Russia, causing the markets to shoot back up in relief, and delivering an immediate windfall to anyone who took his advice and bought stocks.

As if we needed any more evidence of insider (and outsider) trading, market-watchers were quick to notice that NASDAQ call volume spiked minutes before the 90-day tariff pause was announced. The world’s richest people added $304 billion to their combined net worth, the largest one-day gain in history. 

This is wildly illegal and Congress needs to take action immediately. Donald Trump cannot be allowed to play with the economies of every country in the world, cause immense chaos, instability, and panic, all so that he and his rich cronies can make a killing.
