Reject Trump’s Divisive Response to Charlie Kirk’s Murder

Charlie Kirk’s murder was an unacceptable instance of political violence. But instead of uniting the country, President Trump is using this moment to stoke fear, deepen divisions, and scapegoat his opponents.

Within hours of Kirk’s death at an event in Utah, Trump used his platform not to calm tensions, but to amplify them. In an Oval Office address, he blamed the “radical left” for creating a climate of hatred and implied that this murder was part of a broader ideological war — a dangerous narrative that right-wing media quickly echoed.

Political violence should never be exploited to fuel partisan agendas. Instead of bringing people together, Trump’s response threatens to ignite more unrest. Responsible leadership demands healing, not blame. His rhetoric has already emboldened extremists in the past — and now, with emotions running high, the stakes are even more perilous.

Bipartisan voices across the country have called for unity and rejected political violence in all forms. But Trump refuses to lead with empathy or responsibility.

We urge congressional leaders — especially those in the Republican majority — to condemn this divisive rhetoric and reaffirm that violence has no place in our political discourse.

This is a moment for moral clarity. Sign our petition to reject Trump’s divisive response to Charlie Kirk’s murder.
