Stop ICE’s $125 Million Data Broker Surveillance Deal

ICE is trying to buy its way around the Fourth Amendment — and Congress must stop it now.

New reporting reveals that the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have entered into a multi-year agreement with Thomson Reuters Special Services to access CLEAR, a massive investigative database that has compiled personal information about millions of people in the United States.

The deal could give ICE access to addresses, phone records, utility information, vehicle registrations, license plate records, social media activity, geolocation information, and other identifying data. That means the government can build searchable dossiers on people without going to a judge first.

That’s why Congress must close the data broker loophole. The Fourth Amendment Is Not For Sale Act would require government agencies to get a warrant or court order before buying sensitive personal data from data brokers.

Tell Congress: "Investigate ICE’s $125 million Thomson Reuters surveillance deal, close the data broker loophole, and pass the Fourth Amendment Is Not For Sale Act."
