Stop the Congressional attack on endangered species

The Endangered Species Act (ESA) is once again under attack by Congressional Republicans, putting species with rapidly declining populations at even greater risk.

The ESA Amendments Act is a bill that would put numerous species at risk, all to make it easier for industry to turn a profit. Among other damaging provisions, this bill would delay timelines for listing species as threatened or endangered — allowing their populations to decline in the meantime — while fast-tracking rules that would delist endangered species that still need federal protections.

In the coming decades, a million of the Earth’s species face the possibility of extinction due to human-caused habitat loss, pollution, and climate change. Even species that are not yet on the brink will likely face huge population declines. Members of Congress must not stand by as this extinction crisis means fewer and fewer pollinators to support our crops and national food supply, depleted fisheries, and threats to America’s remarkable wild places like rivers, wetlands, coral reefs, and forests.

We must defend the Endangered Species Act. Join Earthjustice Action in opposing this Congressional attack on a wildly effective and widely popular law.
