Stop Trump’s authoritarian military takeover of U.S. cities!

Trump recently went on a Truth Social tirade and threatened to declare another national emergency in the nation’s capital if local authorities don't comply with ICE’s orders. “I'll call a National Emergency, and Federalize, if necessary!!!” he said.

This is how Trump extends his militarized rule of cities indefinitely. Soldiers remain in D.C., and now troops and ICE have descended on Chicago as part of Trump’s “Operation Midway Blitz.” Already, communities in Chicago are terrified and one person has been shot and killed by federal agents.

Cities across the country are in fear of the next violent ICE raid and the next domestic military occupation. Congress must act now to check Trump’s runaway anti-democratic rule.

From the very beginning of the White House’s D.C. military and police takeover, Trump said he was using it as a “model” for military action in cities across the country. The White House could send troops and ICE to plow through city after city — Boston, Memphis, and Baltimore — setting up armed checkpoints, grabbing people off the street, and making people afraid to leave their homes.

Whether legal or not, the Trump administration will pursue its damaging, oppressive policies however it sees fit.

Mass deportations are a clear driver for Trump’s troop deployments. “There simply is an understanding that it’s not safe to exist in DC as an immigrant,” said one advocate. Of the 2,300 arrests the White House attributed to its D.C. takeover, roughly 40% were immigration-related, according to the Associated Press.

Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric, his threats, and rampaging, masked federal agents must be stopped. Our members of Congress need to act now and stop the White House.
