Tell Congress: Take Back Tariff Power

Donald Trump has thrown the global economy into chaos with his sudden, unpredictable tariff announcements — decisions that have already rattled markets, driven up prices, and triggered retaliation from major trade partners.

But the Constitution is clear: the power to impose tariffs belongs to Congress, not the president. Congress temporarily delegated some of that power in the name of national security — and now it's being abused.

It's time for Congress to take it back.

No one person should have the power to single-handedly disrupt global trade and tank the economy. That’s not what the founders intended. Congress is a co-equal branch of government, and it must reassert its authority — before more damage is done.

A bipartisan bill led by Senators Maria Cantwell and Chuck Grassley would do exactly that. Their legislation would restore Congress’s constitutional role in trade policy and put necessary checks on the president’s ability to impose tariffs without oversight.

Tell Congress to pass the Cantwell-Grassley bill and take back tariff power.

The stakes are too high to allow one person’s political whims to dictate the future of the global economy.
