Republicans know they can’t win another congressional majority in a fair midterm election next year. So they’re planning to steal it, and rigging Florida’s congressional maps is the key. Governor Ron DeSantis — with Donald Trump’s backing — is pushing a rushed, mid-decade redistricting scheme to lock in more Republican seats. He’s called for a special session to redraw congressional districts purely for partisan gain. The goal is simple: tilt Florida’s maps to help Republicans hold Congress and protect Trump’s agenda in Washington. But that plan is unconstitutional. Florida voters passed the Fair Districts Amendments in 2010 to ban partisan gerrymandering and protect Black voters and other communities of color. Now, we have to put pressure on Florida legislators to follow the law. Tell the Florida Legislature: “Stop the DeSantis-Trump map-rigging plot. Defend the Fair Districts Amendments, protect Black and minority voters, and refuse to redraw Florida’s maps for partisan gain.” We’ve already seen the damage from the last round of redistricting. DeSantis-backed maps previously dismantled a protected Black district in North Florida. This new push threatens to further dilute minority voting power across the state. This isn’t just a Florida fight. With Republicans already controlling Congress, even a few rigged seats could help Trump entrench power nationally. That’s why this scheme is being rushed — and why public pressure matters now. The Florida Legislature still has a choice. Lawmakers can defend the Constitution and fair representation. Or they can help rig elections before they happen. Add your name to demand Florida legislators follow the law and stop the Trump-DeSantis plan to steal the midterms. The petition to the Florida Legislature reads: “Stop the DeSantis-Trump map-rigging plot. Defend the Fair Districts Amendments, protect Black and minority voters, and refuse to redraw Florida’s maps for partisan gain.”
