Tell Meta: Prevent Sexual and Racist AI Chats With Kids

Meta is putting kids in danger. Its AI chatbots have been caught spewing sexually explicit content, racist slurs, and even encouraging self-harm—all while chatting with teens.

Explosive investigations by Reuters, the BBC, and others reveal that Meta launched these AI bots across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp knowing full well they could go off the rails. Testers warned the company that the bots were making sexual advances, glorifying violence, and spouting hate. Meta’s response? Keep rolling them out anyway.

Meta has a responsibility to our families and our children. We deserve to live in a world where the people building AI tools proactively ensure they’re never unleashed to groom and indoctrinate kids. We must show Meta that if they’re not willing to put kids ahead of profits, we’ll hold them accountable.

Tell Mark Zuckerberg and Meta: “Don’t let Meta chatbots groom, seduce, and indoctrinate kids. Ensure that stronger safeguards are put into place before AI tools are released and establish procedures to proactively prevent kids from engaging with sexual and racist content in AI chats.”

These AI bots are freely accessible to kids as young as 13. There are no meaningful age checks. No strict filters. No accountability. Meta’s excuse? That its bots might say “unexpected things.” But “unexpected” doesn’t cover sexually graphic chats with minors or racially abusive messages. This is reckless neglect.

Even after public outrage and celebrity protests—including Neil Young deleting his Facebook account in disgust—Meta is barely playing damage controls. CEO Mark Zuckerberg knows these AI systems are broken. But instead of proactively fixing them internally, he’s chasing market share at the expense of children's safety.

We cannot let this stand. Meta must immediately shut down all AI chatbot access for minors to fix these problems. It must build rock-solid safeguards against sexual, racist, and violent content—and it must be held accountable for the harm already done.
