We joined People’s Action at the headquarters of UnitedHealth Care(UHC) to demand a meeting with UnitedHealth Group executives. Healthcare is a fundamental right, yet private insurers often deny coverage when people need it most. UHC, the largest health insurance corporation, is notorious for its frequent denials of care despite reporting massive profits, primarily from taxpayer-funded programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Recently, a cyberattack on their payment system halted reimbursements to healthcare providers, prompting the U.S. Senate Finance Committee to summon CEO Sir Andrew Witty for testimony. While addressing payment issues is crucial, it's imperative that senators also demand an end to UnitedHealth Group's systematic delays and denials of care. It's time for elected officials to stand up for constituents. Urge senators on the Finance Committee to question CEO Andrew Witty about UHC’s practices that obstruct people's access to essential care.
