Tell the IRS: Don’t Share Taxpayer Data with ICE

The Trump Administration’s anti-immigrant agenda puts all of us at risk, and the recent news of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) erroneously sharing sensitive taxpayer info of 1.28 million people with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is proof of that.

This data sharing is part of a controversial agreement between the IRS and DHS to gather address information for people who are suspected of being undocumented. The release of this information is unsafe, unlawful, and puts everyone at risk for malicious targeting by federal agents.

Prior to last year’s data-sharing agreement between the IRS and DHS, all U.S. workers, regardless of status, could safely file their taxes knowing that their private information would not be shared with DHS and its partner agencies. Now, undocumented workers face the risk of having their information shared with ICE simply for filing their taxes.

Protect taxpayers’ data and sign our petition to tell the IRS to stop sharing information with DHS now.
